Over 40 Spyders and ryders met at Marina Boat Sales, a Spyder dealership located at 820 S Beckman Road near Highways 12 and 99 in Lodi on the morning of October 9th to ride and raise money for The Lodi House, a local non-profit agency providing shelter for homeless women and children. Riders took to the Sierra Foothills followed by a BBQ in nearby Galt, CA.
It was reported that over $2,500 was raised for this local charity. Thanks to Marina Boat Sales, Mike Monez (owner), John Hilscher (sales manager), BRP, and to all of the ryders that made it out on this beautiful Sunday in October. What a successful event!!

Soon, the Spyder Ryder of America chapters in Northern California (San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento) will be participating in the Northern California Ride for Kids® event. The event will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 in Solano County. A donation page has been set-up and we ask all who can donate, to please do. Our page can be found here. The Ride for Kids® program supports the efforts of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation® (PBTF) to find the cause of and cure for childhood brain tumors. Please visit the PBTF's website to find a Ride for Kids® event in your area. The first annual Spyders in the Redwoods Rally was a HUGE success!! Thank you to all of the sponsors and volunteers who helped make it possible. We had nearly 100 people show-up and register at the Red Lion Inn in Eureka on Tuesday, August 2nd. The Spyders owned the parking lot for two days of the event.
The weather was typical for the Pacific Northwest coast, with morning fog and cloudy skies, and sunshine in the afternoon. Riders began converging on Eureka as early as the Friday before the rally, and by Monday afternoon there were already nearly 30 Spyders in the parking lot. Registration check-in started early on Tuesday morning and ended around 5PM as scheduled. Participants picked up their goodies including a wristband, commemorative pin, and Spyders in the Redwoods 2011 t-shirt. Riders signed up for the group ride, and mingled with other riders checking out their rydes. Wednesday morning, riders met under cloudy skies at a local fueling station to head out on their group ride through the famed Avenue of the Giants. By the time riders approached the Avenue, the sun had come out and it was all smiles. Riders ended the ride at the Shrine Drive-Thru Tree in Meyers Flat, and got their pictures taken as they took a trip through the tree. After the ride, smaller groups broke off and went on other rides, include a group that found themselves all the way down in Ft Bragg and nearly didn't make it back in time for the group dinner that evening. Other groups headed north to the coastal town of Ferndale for lunch at the Victorian Inn. On Wednesday evening, riders gathered at the famous Samoa Cookhouse for the group picture and group dinner. Riders enjoyed a meal and camaraderie and some even walked away with some fabulous raffle prizes donated by numerous sponsors. By Friday morning Eureka was quiet again, and the roar of the Spyders ended as the last two rolled out at around noon that day. If you are interested in reading stories and seeing other pictures from the event, please visit our Facebook page dedicated to the event. Spyders in the Redwoods kicked off today without a hitch!! There were at least 50 or 60 Spyders and nearly 85 people here today to check-in for the first day of the event.
Looking foward to tomorrow then things really get going starting with a scenic ride through the Humboldt Redwood Forest down Avenue of the Giants, ending with a photo-op session of Spyders in actual giant redwoods. Then tomorrow night is the group dinner at the Samoa Cookhouse. Can't wait!! I can't believe that it's almost time for our first annual Spyders in the Redwoods rally in Eureka! We're expecting at least 100 people for our first year event. People are coming from all over, including Florida, Alabama, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and California. We even have visitors coming down from British Columbia, Canada. It's going to be an event to remember!!
A lot has happened in the past seven months. The club has really grown and we now currently have over 35 members in the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter. I have truly and honestly have thoroughly enjoyed every moment and every ride and all of the friends I have made. This club has given me memories and friendship to last a lifetime. Here is to the next seven months and beyond! I will do my best to have some new material here from time to time.
Happy Spydering my friends! |
